This course will empower you to:

  • Discuss and understand evidence-based nomenclature surrounding vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, various subtypes of pelvic pain including dermatological conditions.
  • Discuss and understand the prevalence of dyspareunia and frequent comorbidities
  • Identify vulvar and pelvic floor anatomy involved in various disorders of pelvic pain with attention to spine, nerve, tissue and end organ pain aggravators.
  • ​​Develop advanced skills in external and internal manual therapy techniques, including palpation of the vulvar and perineal region, connective tissue manipulation, pelvic floor muscle lengthening, hip mobilizations, lumbar mobilizations, and rib cage functional mobility treatment.
  • Discuss and understand the various treatment options available for treated vulvar disorders, including psychological, physical therapy, medical, and surgical treatments​.
  • ​​Assess and conduct a medical history and physical examination that can help determine the etiology of genitourinary syndrome of menopause.
  • Foster a deep understanding of the orthopedic approach in managing vestibulodynia, highlighting the integration of orthopedic and pelvic health principles to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
  • ​​Streamline pelvic obliquity assessment and treatment with a blended biomechanical and functional application to honor the weighted musculoskeletal system with input from many manual therapy ideologies.

Audience:

This course welcomes novel and experienced medical providers that have and want to treat the cis female population. Depending on the foundational background, we attempt to balance the orthopedic and pelvic health components for everyone to walk away with many golden nuggets.
This course does include internal and external manual therapy skills surrounding the genital region.This course content is not intended for use by any participants outside the scope of their license or regulation. You will need to check with your practice act for what is within your scope. 
For Medical providers that work with the female population in pain. Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, all Students are welcome.  
Continuing Education Credit:
Physical therapy and occupational therapy credit will be offered in the state the course is hosted.
