This course will empower you to:

  • Be a male pelvic pain expert and be sought out in your community
  • Be a more confident practitioner to give your patient’s more self-efficacy and functional improvement.
  • Enhance your understanding of the thoracic & lumbar spine's role in pelvic health and learn to prescribe exercises aimed at reducing asymmetrical muscle activation.
  • ​Understand drivers for pain instead of being a pain chaser.
  • ​Learn the proper techniques for conducting manual therapy assessments and treatment for coccyx, testicular, and groin pain.
  • Gain knowledge of evidence-based terminology related to male pelvic pain diagnoses.
  • Develop skills in conducting a thorough medical history and physical examination to identify the root cause of ejaculatory/penile/scrotal pain diagnoses.
  • Acquire the ability to perform an objective examination and assess the muscular structure of the male pelvis.
  • ​Familiarize oneself with the various available treatments for complex pelvic pain, including medical, physical therapy, psychological, and surgical options
  • ​​Develop advanced skills in external and internal manual therapy techniques, including palpation of the scrotal and perineal region, inguinal and spermatic cord palpation, connective tissue manipulation, pelvic floor muscle lengthening, coccyx mobilization, hip mobilizations, lumbar mobilizations, and rib cage mobilizations.

Audience:

This course welcomes novel and experienced medical providers that have and want to treat the cis male population. Depending on the foundational background, we attempt to balance the orthopedic and pelvic health components for everyone to walk away with many golden nuggets.
This course does include internal and external manual therapy skills surrounding the genital region.This course content is not intended for use by any participants outside the scope of their license or regulation. You will need to check with your practice act for what is within your scope. 
For Medical providers that work with the male population in pain. Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, all Students are welcome.  
Continuing Education Credit:
Physical therapy and occupational therapy credit will be offered in the state the course is hosted.
